What is a Hair Transplant?

The best solution for hair loss is often the Hair Transplant. The man is often disappointed when a sudden hair loss occurs that changes the usual appearance. On the other hand hair loss is often associated with people of greater age and it is normal for an aesthetic concern in this respect that may cause in some people psychological changes.

Each case should be studied to see if there are any causes which are likely to medical treatment.

There are different causes that can cause hair loss:

  • Natural.
  • Age and heritage.
  • Thyrotropin releasing hormone.
  • Traumatic.
  • Medication.
  • High fever.
  • Neuropsychological.
  • Toxic.
  • Nutritional deficit.
  • Dermatological disease.
  • Hair treatment misguided.

There may be different results in hair transplantation, this depends on many factors:

Kindness of the skin donor area and tuners, hair type, hair diameter, thickness of the scalp, hair color, racial type, scalp elasticity, review of the normal hair cycle.

This surgery is indicated in cases of androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness), the failures in the pubic region, chest, Axilla and moustache. Scarring of the scalp. Correction of other transplants with unsatisfactory result (doll’s hair). The women consider the frontal region: Alopecia, eyebrows, pubic region, scarring of the scalp or the pubic region.

Firstly we should isolate a donor area where are caught the follicles, is usually an area of scalp of occipital region. The continuation are isolated the follicles and are deployed in the host area. Usually are made of 1-3 hairs microplugs and orthdontic intrusion of 4-6.

This surgery can be done without problems with local anesthesia, but patients should be selected appropriately in cases of nervous or anxious people will better match the local anesthesia with sedation.

1. What are the warranties on the outcome?
In medicine there are no absolute guarantees of anything, what must be ensured is the work of professionals who form the surgical team. If the result is not expected can always be repeated.

2. how many sessions are necessary to have a good result?
It depends on the case but should in principle make between 1 and 3 sessions

This surgery should be considered as a resource to improve the physical appearance of patients dissatisfied with the facial image because of hair loss. The patient must be realistic in their expectations and should consider how to achieve a radical change of image depends on several factors such as the quality of the hair that will be transplanted and the experience of the team that will perform the transplant: this is a very thorough and is held by a team (the surgeon removes the donor zone and the helpers prepare the follicles while the surgeon or surgeons shall deploy in a coordinated manner the follicles already prepared by helpers). So the results improve greatly with increasing experience and team coordination. So it is advisable to inform your cosmetic surgeon of which the number of cases operated and view the photographic documentation of some cases. The big limitation of this surgery is the size of the retail trade; so to get a good result we need several patches and several scars and operations, the number of implants is limited to the size of the flap. A good retail may have of 500 to 1000 follicles.

To address this limitation arises a new technique called FUE (Follicular unit Extraction). This technique consists of removing the hair of a in a very precise circular with a scalpel.

The technique of follicular units extraction has several advantages:

  • There is no limitation on the number of follicles in function of the size of the flap. There is no flap.
  • Leaves no marks or scars visible on the extraction zone
  • Can in theory remove by any part of the body.
  • The number of hairs transplanted is much larger reaching 2000-3000 hairs per session.

There are other techniques of treatment of baldness that are more into disuse.

The flaps rotated defended by professor jury are justified to total baldness or type IV. Has the defect of scars very visible and hair growth has an unnatural direction. Another problem may be the loss of the flap that would leave us with very extensive alopecia areas.

The implants with grafs type Dorentreich give a good density to your hair but leave your hair with artificial air by type of doll.

Expanders consists of placing a balloon under her scalp and fill again and again until you get an excess of skin that will make it possible to dry the bald area. Has had little acceptance for social causes incapacitation during several weeks.

The extensors defended by French authors such as Frechet Azaan or allow a good reduction in the alopécica area but require several surgeries and cause pain for a few days from what are little used.

The technique most used nowadays is the technique of capillary microimplante FUE and has multiple advantages:

1. Allows transplanting a large number of hairs.
2. Don’t leave scars.
3. the final aspect is totally natural.
4. it’s not painful.
5. recovery is faster.

Surgery is more time-consuming.
