For the 12th consecutive year, the Queen Maria Pia League Solidarity Gala brought together many personalities in favour of the cause led by Maria Clara Gomes. On Saturday 14th March, the Sheraton Porto – Hotel SPA decked itself out to welcome around 300 guests, prominent figures from various areas of society. ‘It’s thanks to the support of civil society that we’ve been able to overcome the many difficulties we face,’ confessed the hostess, grateful and happy that once again the initiative was a success.
The evening promoted the reunion of old friends, without forgetting the noble reason for the party. After dinner, awards were presented to recognise those who have contributed most over the years to achieving the League’s objectives. Maria Manuel Cyrne, Susana Camelo and Aurora Marques sold raffle tickets for the draw that took place with previously donated goods, adding points to the amount raised at the Gala.
The programme closed on a high note with lots of entertainment on the dance floor. Among the most animated were businessman Mário Ferreira and plastic surgeon Emilio Vallls, men who are always available when the invitation is launched by solidarity, and who unashamedly let themselves be infected by the revivalist rhythms of the evening.
