Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

This non-invasive therapy is very gentle and slow. It is performed with the hands and without the use of creams or oils. It primarily works on the lymphatic system and can be applied to various areas of the body, including the face, arms, legs, feet, abdomen, back, and flanks.

MAIN INDICATIONS

Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps to cleanse and detoxify the body, improve the immune system, reduce “congestions” (sinusitis, rhinitis, headaches, tinnitus…), fluid retention, swelling, and improve skin appearance.

In the pre and post-operative context, drainage helps to reduce edema and bruising faster, as well as any irregularities in the skin resulting from healing.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a very gentle, rhythmic, and precise massage, mainly performed through sliding motions in specific directions toward lymph nodes. The lymph nodes are gently and repeatedly pressed to allow the fluids/lymph to be filtered and “cleansed” more quickly. This process allows for the elimination of toxins, impurities, and excess fluids in the body.

SECONDARY EFFECTS

There are no secondary effects to report.

EFFECTIVENESS

Results are visible between the 2nd and 3rd session.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NECESSARY?

Sessions can be performed daily or once a week, depending on each case and its progression.

Each session lasts about 45 to 60 minutes. It is advisable to undergo around 8 to 10 sessions. In surgical cases, lymphatic drainage should be performed right after the first 48 hours.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is contraindicated in the following situations: first trimester of pregnancy, high-risk pregnancy, patients with high/uncontrolled blood pressure, or with heart and kidney issues.
