High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound – HIFU
One of the latest innovations in body remodeling is the technique that uses HIFU waves, or high-frequency focused ultrasound.
This treatment allows for the elimination of adipocytes (fat cells) and localized fat.
Additionally, the technique is also effective for facial toning.
Results are appreciated immediately and with minimal side effects.
INDICATIONS
The HIFU technology is indicated for body remodeling, treatment of localized fat, and cellulite. For facial rejuvenation, it is recommended for individuals over 30 years old, when certain areas of facial skin begin to appear more relaxed and less firm.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The HIFU technology works through the application of high-intensity and focused ultrasound. These ultrasounds produce a thermomechanical effect, destroying subcutaneous fat tissue without damaging adjacent tissues or the epidermis. It can even be applied to curved areas of the body, such as the abdomen, saddlebags, and buttocks.
In turn, the ultrasonic waves increase body temperature, promoting the retraction and restructuring of collagen and elastin molecules.
SIDE EFFECTS
It is a painless and non-invasive treatment, as it respects the superficial layers of the skin. No recovery period is required.
In some cases, redness in the treated area may occur, which disappears a few hours later.
Other side effects may include slight swelling in the treatment area, a tingling sensation, or sensitivity to touch. Similarly, these effects resolve within a few hours. In the first 2 or 3 days, it is still possible to feel mild muscle soreness.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NECESSARY?
The number of sessions required varies for each individual. However, it is common for the treatment to involve between 2 to 3 sessions.
The results from the application of HIFU waves are noticeable from the first session, regardless of the purpose: facial rejuvenation or body remodeling. It is important to note that although results can be seen right away, collagen has a restructuring time of 21 days, which means definitive results may not be appreciated until 2 to 3 months have passed.
In the case of HIFU treatment for the face, it is noteworthy that the effects can last up to 6 months.
HIFU is contraindicated in the following situations: inflamed or burned skin, infections, wounds, tattoos; changes in cholesterol; renal and hepatic disorders.
